Zion National Park Kolob Canyon Re-Opens

Zion National Park Kolob Canyon Re-Opens

As of today, access to Zion National Park Kolob Canyon has been re-opened. The west portion of the park has been closed for 9 months for road reconstruction. In addition to the road repairs, the park has also added accessible parking, sidewalks in some areas and a couple of additional restrooms.

While the final paving of the road will not be completed until spring, Kolob Canyon is open to the public. Some of the most beautiful and untouched areas of Zion National Park can be accessed from the I-15 Kolob Canyons Exit.

Popular trails that are available from Kolob Canyon Road include: Timber Creek Overlook Trail, Lee Pass Trailhead, Taylor Creek Middle Fork Trail and Taylor Creek South Fork.

Winter conditions may still occur throughout the season, so please remember to check road conditions before visiting.

HikeStGeorge is a project that began as a seedling for Tim LeBaron in the early part of 2008, but really didn’t begin to blossom until the latter part of 2011. The original idea behind the site was to bring to light all of the harder to find, or “less known” hidden gems of the area. It was more of a pet project than anything. As excitement about the site began to spread, there was more of a push to develop information about all hikes in the Southern Utah Region.
