Zion National Park Temporarily Closed due to COVID-19
Park Closure as of April 3, 2020
(Springdale, UT) After weeks of concern of further spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and a request from the Utah State Department of Health, Park officials chose to immediately close Zion National Park until further notice.
Yesterday, Grand Canyon National Park officials announced its closure until further notice. While many were being advised to continue social distancing, and to enjoy being outdoors, the risk of spread in the Park as well as to local residents brought on the ultimate closure.
State Route 9 remains open, as does the Kolob Terrace Road. The roads are open for safety needs and to local residents only. Those traveling these roads are advised that stopping in the pull offs is prohibited.

HikeStGeorge is a project that began as a seedling for Tim LeBaron in the early part of 2008, but really didn’t begin to blossom until the latter part of 2011. The original idea behind the site was to bring to light all of the harder to find, or “less known” hidden gems of the area. It was more of a pet project than anything. As excitement about the site began to spread, there was more of a push to develop information about all hikes in the Southern Utah Region.
