Narrows Permits Available

Zion National Park announces that as of September 29, 2018, they are again issuing top-down hiking permits to the well known Narrows Hike through the Virgin River. Access from the top entrance of the trail was terminated recently by the private landowner.

Permanent Access Solutions Being Explored

According to the Park website, Zion administrators and members of the Washington County Commission are working with the private landowner at the entrance of the hike to resolve access concerns. In the meantime, the landowner has agreed to temporarily open access to the Narrows Trail until the end of 2018. They continue to work on an permanent solution that will be announced later.

Hiking Available With or Without Permit

Permits are available for overnight and day use, and can be picked up at the Park visitor center. Day hikes from the Temple of Sinawava to Big Spring continue to be open without a permit.

HikeStGeorge is a project that began as a seedling for Tim LeBaron in the early part of 2008, but really didn’t begin to blossom until the latter part of 2011. The original idea behind the site was to bring to light all of the harder to find, or “less known” hidden gems of the area. It was more of a pet project than anything. As excitement about the site began to spread, there was more of a push to develop information about all hikes in the Southern Utah Region.
