LITTLE JAMAICA
SITE INFO
Little Jamaica or Littlefield Springs is in Littlefield Arizona, a 30 minute drive from St. George. It is a little oasis along the Virgin River that comes from a mountain spring into a man made pool. There are small waterfalls and is a nice cool setting among the desert landscape. To get to the pool it is about a .25 mile hike from the trailhead and can be a little slippery and is next to the interstate and can be a little noisy because of the traffic. This little oasis is a fun place to go especially during the summer months!

Does anyone know if it’s still open I know the petition was 6ish months ago
hey did you get a response?
I just visited today May 24, 2022. It’s closed and the roadway to go down is completely gone from construction crews seemly fixing the side of the freeway to make it bigger I think.
There’s a way to drive directly to the water, but four wheel drive is recommended. Always bring a large garbage bag and do your part to clean up after the droves of people that come there and leave their trash expecting someone else to clean up after them…As long as it is kept clean, the land owners are likely to keep it open.
They are preparing destruction as we speak. https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/help-save-our-little-jamaica-from-destruction-by
It looks like they shut it down according to the google website. Is there away to confirm it?
Is little Jamaica open right now? Is the water okay?
There is a fence, construction equipment, & a sheriff guarding it right now.

can you go at night?
I don’t recommend it for several reasons. Massive mosquitos will slaughter you and the climbing rocks to the pool are slippery by day nevermind by night. Regardless there is construction equipment there now readying to destroy it! https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/help-save-our-little-jamaica-from-destruction-by
Take yourgarbage or be prepared to donate to the trash pick up
Is the water contaminated from the Cyanobacteria bloom?
Can you camp there over night?
No, there is not any camping available.
Has anyone brought a dog before?
Would it be difficult to get there with a 3 yr old? Can we take food for a picnic?
This is doable with small children, but you’ll need to be careful getting down there. If you take food and things, please practice “Leave No Trace” rules and pack out what you pack in.
Has anyone gone recently? Was it busy? Was the water super cold?
It was very packed near the entrances closest to the parking lot area, but there was still enough space to socially distance.
Do you have to pay for parking
As far as we know, there is no fee for parking, unless the landowner has changed that recently.
Is little Jamaica open
Yes, it is open. The water source has been rerouted and is flowing again like it used to.
Is there another way to drive to the bottom without hiking ?
No there isn’t.
It is not a big hike. Maybe 5 minutes! There is a downhill part that is a bit sandy/slippery so not wheelchair/disability friendly (Mother Nature doesn’t exactly go by building code standards)
